Kozhikode. A youth from Kozhikode, Kerala allegedly committed suicide after a woman accused him of sexual harassment. In this case, the family of the deceased has decided to take legal action against the complainant. The police have intensified their investigation in this matter. The family and friends of deceased Deepak said that they will go to any extent to ensure justice for him. He said Deepak had done no wrong and claimed that the woman’s social media post alleging harassment, which went viral within hours, had put her under severe mental stress and ultimately led to her death. Friends of the deceased told local media that Deepak had repeatedly insisted that he was innocent and had done nothing wrong.
Police have already taken steps to record the statement of the woman who made the allegation after the suicide. Statements of the bus staff and other people present during the journey will also be taken. Investigators are probing why the woman released the video on social media instead of immediately filing a police complaint, as well as the sequence of events after the video surfaced.
Police have indicated that based on the preliminary investigation there may be lapses on both sides, while emphasizing that the investigation is still in its early stages.
Let us tell you that this incident happened last Friday, when Deepak, a sales manager from Kozhikode, was traveling in a crowded private bus for work. The woman alleged that he touched her maliciously and recorded a video inside the bus, which she later posted on social media.
The woman persists in her accusation; She said the incident had taken place and she had informed the police. She claimed that Deepak, after realizing that she was recording the video, got off the bus and drove away rapidly. However, after Deepak’s death, the woman reportedly deleted the video and related posts from her social media account, making the case even more in the news.
Deepak’s body was found hanging near his house in Kozhikode, when his parents were at home. His family said he was deeply troubled after the video spread widely and that he had no history of abuse or drug abuse. Relatives alleged that the public humiliation on social media caused her mental breakdown.
Meanwhile, separate complaints have been filed against the woman demanding action, including a petition to the Director General of Police seeking to register a case of abetment of suicide.
