Be it Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha, the roots of dynasty have spread everywhere. According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms, there are 5204 MPs, MLAs and Legislative Councilors in the country, of which 21 percent come from political families. Their stake in Lok Sabha is 31 percent. The background of 20 percent of the representatives of national parties is dynastic, with 32 percent of the Congress and 18 percent of the BJP. This figure is the lowest, only 8 percent in the Communist Party of Marxist. This figure is 27 percent in Bihar.
30-40 percent dynasty in RJD and JD (U) in Bihar
According to the report, 96 (27 percent) out of 360 current MPs, MLAs and Legislative Council members in Bihar come from a dynastic background. The rate of dynasty is the lowest in the Left parties, the CPI -M and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). At the same time, 30-40 percent dynasty is found in ‘social justice’ or caste-based regional parties like Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and JDU.
In Uttar Pradesh, 141 (23 percent) out of a total of 604 MPs, MLAs and Legislative Council members are with a dynastic background. Out of 403 current members in Maharashtra, 129 (32 percent) are of a dynastic background, while 96 (27 percent) in Bihar and 94 (24 percent) in Karnataka come from a dynastic background.
Dynasty influence among women leaders also
According to the report, the dynastic figure of women in women representing women is higher than men. In Maharashtra, 69 percent of women and 28 percent male representatives are dynasties. 69 percent of women and 29 percent of male in Andhra Pradesh belong to political families. In Bihar, 57 percent of women and 22 percent of male representatives are from dynastic background, while in Telangana the figure is 64 percent (female) and 21 percent (male).
