Srinagar, January 28 (IANS). Four people, including two tourists, were killed in separate incidents in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday, while 10 people were injured after a house collapsed in Bandipora district.

According to officials, two male tourists were brought dead to hospitals in Srinagar on Wednesday. A tourist was rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar in an unconscious state from a hotel near Dal Lake, where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Taranjit Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

In another incident, another tourist was referred to SKIMS Soura from JVC Bemina in an unconscious state. Officials said that this tourist was staying in a hotel in Hyderpora area of Srinagar. On reaching SKIMS Soura, doctors declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as Ramchand Mahindrakar, a resident of Maharashtra. Officials said medico-legal formalities have been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of death in both the cases.

Meanwhile, a CRPF jawan of 44th battalion died of suspected heart attack in HMT area of Srinagar late night. The deceased has been identified as Harinath, head constable of the 44th battalion. The jawan had complained of restlessness at night and was later found unconscious in his room. Initial assessment believes the cause of death to be sudden heart attack. However, officials clarified that all necessary legal and medical procedures are being completed to confirm the actual cause.

Besides, a 32-year-old man died of suspicious suffocation in Kulgam district. Officials said that the deceased had slept in the car with the heater on outside Kulgam District Hospital for the treatment of his wife. There is a possibility of suffocation due to heater running for a long time in a car that is closed to avoid cold. He was later found unconscious inside the car and was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The deceased has been identified as Mashuk Ahmed Mir, son of Mohammad Yusuf Mir, resident of Kulpora. The body has been sent for post-mortem and other legal formalities.

In another incident, a two-storey residential house suddenly collapsed during a condolence meeting in Chandergir village of Hajin area of Bandipora district, injuring 10 people present there.

Officials said that a large number of people had gathered to mourn the death of the owner of the house, due to which the house was overloaded and suddenly collapsed. This incident created chaos on the spot and many people got buried under the debris, who were later pulled out with the help of local people and administration.

According to officials, five people injured in the accident were admitted to the health center in Hajin, while the other five were taken to Safapora hospital for treatment. The condition of all the injured is said to be stable. Taking cognizance of the incident, the police have started investigating the exact reasons for the house collapse.
