Mumbai, February 13 (). Political rhetoric has intensified in Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aditya Thackeray hit out at the Mumbai Mayor, alleging that his entire focus is on the Bangladesh issue, while the basic problems of the city are being ignored.
Aditya Thackeray said there are many serious civic issues in Mumbai like dug up roads, non-timely garbage collection, poor and inaccessible footpaths, occupation of open spaces by builders, polluted water and air. He says that the Mayor should pay attention to these problems, but he is raising more issues related to Bangladesh.
He also said that matters related to border security and infiltration come under the jurisdiction of the central government and the state home ministry. In such a situation, questions arise that if Bangladeshi citizens have come to India illegally, then how did they reach from one end of the country to the other. Thackeray asked how those people kept passing through the states where the BJP is in power and how were they able to stay for a long time, while the BJP has been in power at the Center for more than a decade.
Describing it as a serious matter related to national security, Aditya Thackeray said that if a large number of infiltration has taken place, then responsibility should be fixed for it. He raised the question whether it was a failure of the intelligence system or an administrative lapse.
He alleged that if the talk of infiltration is true, then the central and state governments should clarify what steps were taken to stop, identify and deport them. Thackeray said that accountability should be fixed in matters of national security and the government should give clear answers to these questions.
