New Delhi . The hearing in the Supreme Court on the petition filed against Mamata Banerjee in the I-Pack Raid case has been postponed. Now the next hearing of this case will be on March 18. The Solicitor General, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate in the court, said that the ED will file its reply today itself. The Enforcement Directorate has filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging interference during the raid at the offices of I-Pac. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal DGP Rajeev Kumar and Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar have been made parties in the petition. ED has demanded to register an FIR against these three.
On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee has made serious allegations against ED in her affidavit filed in the court. He said that in the name of searching the I-PAC offices in Kolkata, ED officials seized confidential and election strategy data related to Trinamool Congress. According to him, this action was not only illegal, but also amounts to interference in the democratic process.
Mamata Banerjee said in her affidavit that as soon as she got information that searches were going on in the offices of I-PAC and sensitive data of the party was present there, she herself reached there. He says that his aim was only to keep the confidential material of the party safe, so that it is not misused in any way. He also clarified that he did not create any obstruction in the ED’s action.
Now the arguments of all the parties in this case will be heard in the next hearing to be held on March 18. Everyone’s eyes are fixed on the court’s decision, because this case has become an important issue related to the action of the investigating agency and the rights of the state government.
