New Delhi, February 20 (IANS). During the press conference at India AI Impact Summit 2026, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that more than 5 lakh visitors participated in the event. He said people enjoyed the exhibition, interacted with experts from across the world and learned about new technologies. The summit was attended by almost all the major AI players in the world in large numbers and many startups got an opportunity to showcase their innovations.
The Minister said that the journey so far has been very meaningful and organized. India first built the foundation of the AI stack, then worked on its different layers and now brings the world together on one platform in India to discuss and collaborate. He said that now the next phase of AI mission will focus on new models, advanced compute capacity and better security standards.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Human AI’ (AI for humans, by the humans, for the humans) has received widespread support globally. The minister said that the discussion on responsible and ethical AI was taken forward and 2.5 lakh students were also included in this initiative. He said that ministers and representatives of almost every country seemed to agree with this viewpoint.
Ashwini Vaishnav said that promises of large-scale investment in the AI sector have also come to the fore. So far, commitments have been received for more than $250 billion in infrastructure investments and approximately $20 billion in deep-tech venture capital investments. He said that this number is continuously increasing and is a sign of the world’s growing confidence in India’s role.
He also informed that the final declaration of the summit has been signed by more than 70 countries and this number is expected to exceed 80 by the conclusion. He clarified that all major and important countries have supported this initiative.
The minister said that for AI security, India has created a network of 12 institutes, which are working on security standards and research related to AI. Also, ‘PAX Silica’ agreement was signed to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain and chip manufacturing, which is an important step towards developing the entire semiconductor ecosystem in India.
He further said that India has huge talent pool and balanced foreign policy has created an environment of trust in the world. This is why today the world is seriously accepting India’s role in the new era of AI.
