Bhopal, 15 September (IANS). The Supreme Court on Monday banned several provisions of the Waqf Act. Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang, a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government, reacted to the Supreme Court’s decision and described it as positive. He said that this decision will definitely give positive results.
The Supreme Court has confirmed the positive thinking of the government.
He further said, “I believe the Waqf Board had gone astray. The selected Muslim leaders of the Congress used to do politics of religion and appeasement. The positive decision of the Supreme Court will benefit poor families. I think it cannot be considered an attack on religion if the poor Muslim benefits. Some leaders used the property of Waqf for lover and today’s decisions are causing pain in the same decision.”
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to completely ban the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. The court said that there is a notion of constitutionality of any law and it can be stopped only in extremely rare cases. However, the court has imposed an interim stay on some provisions of Waqf Act. Now the Collector will also not have the right to take a decision on the property dispute.
A bench of Chief Justice Justice BR Gavai and Justice Augustin George Christ ruled on an interim relief in the matter on Monday. The Supreme Court reserved the verdict on 22 May. On Monday, the court made it clear that there is no basis for stopping the complete provisions of the law, but interim protection is necessary on some sections.
