New Delhi, February 27 (IANS). Holi is a festival of colors and happiness. The more happiness there is in applying colors on this day, the more trouble there is in removing the colors from the face later. Nowadays, most of the colors available in the market are made of chemicals, which can harm the skin. Therefore, before playing Holi, proper care of the face becomes very important.
Facial skin is more delicate than the rest of the body. If it is not protected beforehand, the colors can penetrate into the pores of the skin. This can cause burning, itching, redness, rashes and later blemishes. According to science, if a protective layer is made on the skin beforehand, the colors do not come in direct contact with the skin and are easily cleaned later.
Light cleansing of the face one or two days before Holi is very important. The face should be cleaned with a mild face wash so that the dirt accumulated on the skin is removed. Moisturizer applied on clean skin works better. After this, applying a good amount of coconut oil, almond oil or aloe vera gel on the face is considered beneficial. These things create a natural layer on the skin, due to which the colors cannot penetrate deep.
It is also very important to apply sunscreen before going out on the day of Holi. Often people think that there is no need for sunscreen while playing with colors, but sunlight and chemical colors together can cause double harm to the skin. Sunscreen not only protects the skin from the strong rays of the sun but also reduces the effect of colors to some extent.
It is not right to repeatedly wash or rub the face with water while playing Holi. By doing this the color goes deeper. It is better to leave the color on and clean the face only after playing. Do not use harsh soap or scrub while cleaning. Remove color gently with a mild cleanser or raw milk.
After Holi, it is very important to apply moisturizer and aloe vera gel on the face. Color and water remove moisture from the skin, which can increase dryness. Moisturizer helps to bring the skin back into balance.
If someone already has problems with allergies, acne or sensitive skin, then they should take special precautions. Such people should stay away from chemical colors and if possible, use only herbal or home-made colors.
