Jaipur | The two-day ‘Purple Fair’ organized by the Integrated Regional Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment Center for Persons with Disabilities (CRC, Jaipur) concluded successfully on Saturday. More than 1000 persons with disabilities, their parents and stakeholders from more than 20 institutions enthusiastically participated in this fair organized under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (Government of India).
This two-day festival was inaugurated by Jaipur MP Smt. Manju Sharma. Dr. M.L., founder of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology (MGUMST) was present at the inauguration ceremony. Goldman and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. V.K. Kapoor was specially present. Highlights and Achievements of the programme: Cultural and Sports Activities: After the inaugural session, persons with disabilities gave spectacular cultural presentations. Also, various indoor and outdoor sports competitions were organized for the mental and physical development of children.
Promotion of Disabled Entrepreneurship: Free stalls were provided to disabled entrepreneurs by the Government of India. Here the disabled people exhibited and sold the products made by them, which strengthened their self-reliance.
Registration and Accessories: Special sessions for UDID/Niramaya registration and distribution of accessories were organized in the fair for the convenience of persons with disabilities.
Expert Discussion (Talk Show): ‘Talk Show’ was organized with experts on health, education and employment opportunities, in which information about disabled friendly schemes of the Central and State Government was shared.
Special session for Rehabilitation Professionals During the fair, the emphasis was not only on entertainment but also on education. More than 100 rehabilitation professionals from different states participated in the two-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) training programme, which provided them an opportunity to understand modern technologies and new methods of rehabilitation.
