Now a new wave of development is being seen in Gopalganj district of Bihar. The government has given green signal to many big projects for industrial revolution and strengthening the infrastructure. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed to restart the closed sugar mills during the review meeting on 13 February 2026. Its main objective is to provide employment to the local youth in the district itself so that they do not have to migrate to Gulf countries or other states.

Revival of sugar mills and new industrial area
Preparations are underway to restart the Sasamusa Sugar Mill to increase employment opportunities in the district. Along with this, approval has been given for establishment of a new industrial area on 32.66 acres of land in Vijaypur block. Land for this has been transferred to BIADA at a cost of Rs 11.39 crore. Work is also going on towards creating an ethanol hub in the district in which crores of rupees will be invested in Sidhwalia and Vishnu Sugar Mills.
Local farmers will get huge benefits from the opening of Sasamusa Sugar Mill. A third ethanol plant will be set up in the Vishnu Sugar Mill premises at a cost of Rs 100 crore. A new ethanol project worth Rs 162 crore is in the pipeline at Sidhwalia.
Sabay Airport and high-speed road network
Gopalganj is also ready to take a huge leap in terms of connectivity. The Defense Ministry has allocated Rs 4 crore for the boundary wall of Sabeya Airport in Hathua and its work has started in January 2025. Under the Centre’s UDAN scheme, domestic flights are likely to start from here by 2026. Along with this, a network of expressways and highways is being laid which will strengthen the economic condition of the district.

With all these projects, Gopalganj will no longer be dependent only on agriculture and will emerge as a logistics and industrial center so that workers working in Gulf countries will get options for technical work near their homes.
