Patna, March 5 (IANS). Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will file nomination for Rajya Sabha. Ending the speculations going on in Bihar for the last two days, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that he wants to become a member of Rajya Sabha. Along with this, he said that he will always support and guide the new Bihar government.

He further wrote in his post, “Ever since the time I started my parliamentary career, I had a desire in my mind to become a member of both the houses of the Bihar Legislative Assembly as well as the Parliament. In this sequence, I want to become a member of the Rajya Sabha in the elections being held this time.”
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wrote in the ‘X’ post, “I want to assure you with all sincerity that this relationship of mine with you will continue in the future also and my resolve to build a developed Bihar with you will remain the same. The new government that will be formed will have my full support and guidance.”
It is noteworthy that Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for the last 21 years. He took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time in 2025. He is also the longest serving Chief Minister of the state.
In the year 1985, he reached Bihar Assembly for the first time as an independent candidate and became MP for the first time in 1989. Nitish Kumar continuously won the Lok Sabha elections from Barh constituency from 1989 to 2004. He assumed the post of Chief Minister for the first time in March 2000. At that time, the government fell within 7 days due to lack of majority. Between 2001 and 2004, he was a Union Cabinet Minister and handled the Railway Ministry. Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar since 2005, except for the short tenure of Jitan Ram Manjhi (20 May 2014 to 20 February 2015).
