New Delhi, March 8 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has expressed deep sorrow and anger over the incident of heinous murder of an innocent youth Tarun on the holy festival of Holi in Uttam Nagar. He termed this incident as extremely painful, condemnable and shocking to the entire society. The CM clarified that a zero tolerance policy has been adopted for such heinous criminal and violent incidents in Delhi and such brutality will not be tolerated at any cost.
The Chief Minister wrote, “This incident of heinous murder of an innocent youth in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on the holy festival of Holi is extremely painful, condemnable and shocks the entire society. Delhi has a zero tolerance policy for such heinous criminal and violent incidents. Such brutality will not be tolerated at any cost.”
He said that clear and strict instructions have been given to the administration that all the culprits involved in this crime should be immediately arrested and strictest and prompt action should be taken against them as per law. CM said that strict and exemplary action will be taken in this matter, so that no one can dare to commit such inhuman incident in future.
Expressing condolences to the victim’s family, the Chief Minister wrote, “Delhi government stands with the victim’s family with full sympathy, responsibility and firmness in this difficult time. I will take all possible help and action to provide justice to the family. Tarun’s family has lost their young son, it is not possible to express their grief in words. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and give the family strength to bear this unbearable grief.”
According to police sources, the dispute started when color splattered from a water balloon thrown by an 11-year-old girl during Holi in JJ Colony, Uttam Nagar. Despite apologizing, the dispute turned violent. The accused injured Tarun (26) by beating him with iron rods, bricks and stones, due to which he died during treatment in the hospital. Tension spread in the area, people demonstrated, set vehicles on fire and surrounded the police station. Delhi Police has so far arrested 8 people, including a minor.
