New Delhi, March 9 (IANS). Menopause is a natural phase in every woman’s life, but sometimes the changes that come with it make everyday life a little more difficult. During this time, symptoms like sudden heat, mood swings, lack of sleep, feeling tired or heaviness in the body can be seen. Many women get scared of these changes, but with a little understanding and adopting the right lifestyle, this time can also be made comfortable and balanced.

First of all, it is very important to pay attention to your eating habits. At this time, the body needs more nutrition, hence it is beneficial to take balanced and light food. Be sure to include fresh and seasonal fruits in your diet. These provide essential vitamins and minerals to the body and help in maintaining energy. Apart from this, you can also include light and nutritious grains like wheat, old rice and moong dal in your diet. Consuming a small amount of ghee also gives strength to the body and helps in improving digestion.

At the time of menopause, not only food but also daily routine matters a lot. If you take out some time every day for yoga and meditation, both body and mind can get a lot of relief. Yogasanas help in reducing stiffness of the body, increasing flexibility and reducing stress. By meditating, the mind becomes calm and problems like mood swings are also reduced. Many times women feel more stressed or anxious at this time, in such a situation regular meditation and deep breathing exercises can prove to be very beneficial.

Simple breathing exercises also make the body strong from within. Practicing deep and slow breathing for a few minutes every day improves the amount of oxygen in the body and the mind also feels light. Along with this, it is good to include light physical activity like walking in the morning and evening as a habit. This keeps the body active and sleep also starts getting better.

The most important thing is to understand menopause not as a disease but as a natural change in life. At this time, it is very important to understand the needs of your body and take more care of yourself. Ayurveda says that with proper eating habits, regular yoga-meditation and positive thinking, this phase can also be lived in a healthy, active and balanced manner.
