A big commercial ship of Bangladesh ‘MV Banglar Joyjatra’ is stuck near the Strait of Hormuz due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. Ship returned due to fear of missile attack
This ship had tried to exit through the sea on March 12. He was just 66 nautical miles away from the exit when he was forced to turn back after receiving news of missile attacks. The captain of the ship, Captain Mohd. Shafiqul Islam said that all 31 sailors are physically completely safe. But a few days ago, when the ship stopped at Jebel Ali Port, a missile fell at a distance of about 200 meters. The crew members are quite scared after this incident. In view of this situation, the UAE Coast Guard has advised the ship to stop near Sharjah as the path ahead remains very dangerous.
What is the future plan and the situation of the sailors?
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) MD Commodore Mahmudul Malek said on Wednesday that his first priority is the safety of all seafarers. He clarified that there is sufficient amount of water, food and fuel on the ship to last for the next several months. According to officials, the plan to immediately bring the ship back to Bangladesh has been put on hold. When the security situation improves, it can be sent to Qatar so that new cargo can be loaded from there. At present, this route has been described as dangerous by Iran, due to which it is not possible to pass through here without security guarantee.
