Saudi Arabia has welcomed the temporary ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. This peace agreement has been reached on the special appeal of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Türkiye. Pakistan has announced a ban on air strikes from midnight on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 so that people can celebrate the festival peacefully. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry has described the move as a positive initiative for regional stability.

The statement issued by Pakistan said that this temporary ceasefire will start from midnight of 18 March 2026 and will remain effective till midnight of 23 March 2026. The Afghan government has also agreed to maintain peace during this period. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has also praised this decision and expressed hope that this step can further turn into a permanent peace agreement.

On behalf of Afghanistan, Zabiullah Mujahid has also confirmed to stop military action.
