A tragic accident occurred in Abu Dhabi on Thursday 26 March 2026. Two people died on the spot and three others were injured when missile debris fell on Sweihan Street in the morning. Local officials said the air defense system had successfully shot down a ballistic missile in the air but its debris fell on the road below. Due to this incident, many vehicles parked there have also been damaged.

Abu Dhabi Media Office has confirmed the incident and said that the relevant departments immediately reached the spot. The government has appealed to the general public not to pay attention to any kind of rumors and rely only on official news. The UAE Ministry of Defense has clarified that the country’s air defense system is fully active and is countering incoming missile and drone threats. According to the ministry, the loud noises heard by people were part of the safety procedure to intercept the missiles.
