Hyderabad, March 31 (IANS). Telangana Cyber Security Bureau has rescued a 5-year-old girl and arrested her cousin who was sexually exploiting her.
Telangana Cyber Security Bureau Director Shikha Goyal said on Tuesday that the 19-year-old accused has been arrested in the Child Sexual Exploitative and Abusive Material case.
The matter came to light when the Child Protection Unit of Telangana Cyber Security Bureau investigated the evidence received from the Child Sexual Exploitative and Abusive Material Tipline. It was also revealed that the girl’s parents were not aware of this.
The director said that this is the second case in 2026, in which Telangana Cyber Security Bureau has saved a minor girl. In both the cases, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau officials identified and arrested the accused.
He said, “The sad thing is that in both the cases the accused were known to the victim. In this case the accused is the girl’s cousin, whom she innocently called ‘bhaiya’.”
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Fahad, a second year student and a resident of Chhota Bazaar in Golconda area of Hyderabad.
According to Telangana Cyber Security Bureau Director, the accused was identified based on the investigation of the video received on the tipline. During interrogation the accused confessed to his crime. He would often come to the girl’s house and take her to the terrace and do wrong things. The electronic device of the accused has been seized and is being examined so that more evidence can be found.
In this matter, a case has been registered under Section 67-B of the IT Act and Section 15, 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.
Shikha Goyal said that the girl is being given necessary help and care, and her parents have also been given counselling.
He said that cases of sexual abuse of children often remain hidden and most of the accused are family or acquaintances. Therefore, it is very important to be careful about to whom the care of the children is left.
Telangana Cyber Security Bureau is continuously working and using modern technology to prevent such crimes. Strict and immediate action will be taken against those who harm children.
