New Delhi, December 15 (IANS). Sinhagarjanasana is a powerful yoga posture, which is extremely effective in eliminating the problem of snoring. This asana strengthens the throat muscles, opens the respiratory system and reduces respiratory obstruction. Its regular practice provides many benefits.

According to Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Simhagarjanasana is a simple and effective yoga asana, which is considered extremely beneficial for physical and mental health. This asana imitates the posture and roar of a lion, which provides special benefits to the face, throat and respiratory system.

Regular practice of Sinhagarjanasana helps in getting good sleep at night. Provides relief from thyroid, tonsil and respiratory disorders. Regular exercise reduces stress and infuses new energy into the body.

The method of practicing Simhagarjanasana is also easy. First of all, sit in Vajrasana posture. For this, sit with your knees spread, keep your heels under your buttocks and toes should be touching each other. Place your hands on your knees or rest them on the ground with fingers pointing towards the body. Keep the spine straight. Now lift the chin two-three inches and look between the eyebrows. During this, take deep breaths through the nose. While exhaling, open the mouth, stick out the tongue completely and roar like a lion. This process should be repeated 5-10 times. Breathe normally and relax after exercise.

Sinhagarjanasana provides relief in problems of throat, ear, nose, eyes and mouth. Beneficial in tonsil, thyroid and respiratory problems. Strengthens the facial muscles, which brings glow to the face and prevents premature wrinkles.

It removes stress, anger and insomnia and maintains emotional balance. This asana makes the voice sweet and strong, improves stammering. Not only this, it strengthens the respiratory system, increases immunity and relieves chest tightness.

Yoga experts say that daily practice of Simhagarjanasana improves mental and physical health. However, it is important to take some precautions. Do not do this asana if you have any injury or pain in your knees, neck, face or tongue. Patients with high blood pressure or heart disease should consult a doctor.

Do not apply force while roaring, otherwise it may cause sore throat. In the beginning, practice under the supervision of a yoga instructor. Pregnant women or people with any serious illness should also exercise caution.
