The mortal remains of 20 Indian nationals who lost their lives in Kuwait have reached Cochin International Airport in Kerala on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. These include the body of 37-year-old Santhanaselvam Krishnan, resident of Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. Krishnan was killed in a drone attack on a water plant in Kuwait. The other 19 Indians died due to various common causes and accidents, but due to the ongoing tension and conflict in West Asia, there has been a lot of delay in bringing their bodies to India.

Steps taken by Indian Embassy and Government
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) took a proactive approach in this matter and contacted Kuwaiti authorities. Indian Ambassador Paramita Tripathi herself visited the Kuwait mortuary and sought help from the authorities there to send the bodies to India soon. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Asim R Mahajan, has informed that the security of about one crore Indians living in Gulf countries is the priority of the government. The government is constantly monitoring the situation so that the workers living there do not face much trouble due to the conflict. The ministry has also sought cooperation from the Kuwait administration to search for another missing Indian national.
