The mortal remains of 33-year-old Indian sailor Dixit Solanki, who lost his life in the attack on an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, has reached Mumbai after a month. After this attack in the sea near Muscat, the family was continuously waiting for the return of the body. Why did the family file a petition in the Bombay High Court?
Dixit Solanki’s father Amritlal Solanki has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court. The family says that they need complete confidence about the identity of the body because the body is in a very bad condition. He has demanded that the government and concerned departments should get the DNA test done again so that the identity can be confirmed. Apart from this, the family has also demanded the report and other legal documents related to the investigation of the attack.
V.Ships India Pvt. Ltd. The company that manages the ship has confirmed that a crew member died in a fire in the engine room in the attack on March 1. Police of Mumbai’s Charkop police station said that the family has not performed the last rites yet and they are waiting for the documents. Meanwhile, officials of Oman and Iran have discussed the security of ships in the area so that such incidents can be prevented in future.
