The ongoing tension between Iran and Israel now seems to be moving towards a major war. Israel has attacked Iran’s most important petrochemical plant and completely destroyed it. Due to this attack, 85% of Iran’s petrochemical exports have stopped. After the arrival of this news, there has been panic in the oil and gas market all over the world and security has been increased in Gulf countries also.

Which places were targeted?
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has informed that his army has attacked the South Pars Petrochemical Plant located in Asaluyeh. It is considered to be the largest plant of Iran and half of the country’s petrochemical needs were met from here. Earlier on April 4, there were attacks in many areas of Khuzestan also. The damage caused in these attacks is given below:

What effect will this have on Iran and the world?
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed strong displeasure over these attacks and said that such attacks can prove dangerous. Iran’s IRGC has also threatened that they will take retaliatory action in the Gulf region, which may affect the expatriates living there and business. So far, 5 people have died and 170 have been injured in this attack. US President Donald Trump has also warned Iran to open its borders and sea routes. If this dispute escalates further, there may be a huge jump in the prices of oil coming from Gulf countries, which will have a direct impact on countries like India.
