New Delhi, April 10 (IANS). We often do not take mental health as seriously as it should, which directly impacts our thinking, understanding, decision making and even our physical health. If the mind is calm and balanced, life seems easy but if the mind is filled with stress, anxiety or negative thoughts, then even small things seem big.
Mental health has been explained in great depth in Ayurveda. According to this, the mind is not just the center of thoughts, but it works like a bridge between the body and the soul. When the mind is balanced, both body and soul function properly. At the same time, when the mind becomes unstable, it affects both the health of the body and the quality of life.
In today’s busy life, problems like stress, anxiety, anger and depression have become very common. People are always under some pressure, sometimes of work, sometimes of relationships, and sometimes of worries about the future. This mental imbalance gradually starts causing diseases in the body too, such as insomnia, headache, fatigue, digestive problems and even serious diseases.
According to Ayurveda, the most important thing to keep mental health balanced is to improve daily routine and lifestyle. If we bring some regularity and discipline in our everyday life, the mind can remain calm to a great extent. It is very important to sleep on time, wake up on time, take a balanced diet and give some rest to the body.
Apart from this, meditation and pranayam are considered the most effective remedies for mental health in Ayurveda. When we adopt deep breathing techniques, the flow of oxygen in the body improves and the mind gradually begins to calm down. By meditating, the rush of thoughts reduces and the person learns to live in the present.
Ayurveda also says that connection with nature is very important for mental peace. Spending time among trees and plants, taking in the fresh morning air and sitting in a quiet environment for a while stabilizes the mind. In today’s digital age, when noise and screen time have increased everywhere, it has become even more important to connect with nature.
Eating habits also have a deep impact on mental health. Too much fried, spicy or processed food can destabilize the mind. Ayurveda gives great importance to sattvic food, which includes fresh fruits, vegetables, milk and light meals. Such food helps in keeping the mind calm and stable. Along with this, positive thinking is also a big part of mental health.
