There was a late night encounter between the police and a wanted criminal in Khapar Malang area of Kotwali Nagar police station area of Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh, in which the police arrested a criminal. The police team was patrolling, when the police team tried to stop the suspicious person, he tried to run away. After being chased, the accused opened fire on the police team. After this the police retaliated, in which the accused was shot in the leg. After getting injured, the miscreant collapsed on the spot and the police arrested him. Police officials say that continuous action is being taken against criminals in the district under ‘Operation Lagada’. The aim of this campaign is to strengthen law and order by taking strict action against criminals. The police were acting on information of suspicious activity during patrolling. According to the police, the accused was wanted for a long time in a theft case and the search for him was going on. Based on the information, this encounter took place, in which the police showed promptness and arrested the accused.
Police have also recovered illegal weapons from the accused. Further investigation in the case is going on and the police is trying to find out whether any other associates were also involved with the accused or not. After this incident, security arrangements have been tightened in the area, so that any kind of criminal activity can be prevented.
The injured miscreant has been identified as Mahajan, who has been involved in many criminal cases in the past. The police immediately admitted him to the district hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. According to doctors, his condition is currently stable.
Vaibhav Shukla, Emergency Medical Officer of the District Hospital, said that in the night the police had brought an injured person, who was shot in the lower leg. After first aid, he has been admitted to the hospital and his treatment is continuing under the supervision of doctors.
