Congress MP and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that ‘the people controlling AIADMK are completely under the control of Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ and cited the example of Bihar.
Addressing a rally in Thoothukudi, Gandhi said, “The people who control the AIADMK are completely under the control of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi. Look at what happened in Bihar, where the Chief Minister has been removed and a BJP person has been installed. Why? Because the Chief Minister of Bihar was corrupt. He did not say a word and silently went to the Rajya Sabha. His past exploits gave the B.J.P a chance to control him. The BJP wants to do the same in Tamil Nadu.”
He further alleged that BJP will never be able to control the people of Tamil Nadu.
He further said, “They want a government they can control, and a Chief Minister who follows their orders. We will never let them do that. Whatever their dreams, they will never be able to control the people and government of Tamil Nadu.”
Bharatiya Janata Party leader K. Annamalai on Monday asserted that voters across Tamil Nadu are leaning towards political change in the upcoming assembly elections.
Annamalai said, “Tamil Nadu has decided to vote for change. The ground reality is very clear. People want a decisive government that will come and take stock of the poor law and order situation and fix the mess created by the DMK government. The urban infrastructure is in a very bad shape.”
The BJP leader said, “In the last ten days, people across Tamil Nadu have come to a clear conclusion that we do not want to see DMK in power, we want to see NDA in power. So I am completely confident and clear about this. To the voters who are still undecided, all I would say is that NDA is before you as an alliance, which has a strong group of parties, proven leadership, the leader of the opposition is EPS and there is also the chief ministerial candidate. We are fully confident.” That after May 4, he will be our Chief Minister.”
Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 23 and counting of votes will take place on May 4.
The main contest is likely to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the AIADMK-led NDA, which will have BJP and PMK as allies.
