New Delhi. Vishwajit Sahay has become the new Defense Finance Secretary of the Defense Ministry. He took over as Defense Finance Secretary in the Ministry of Defense on 1 May. Vishwajit Sahay is a senior officer of the Indian Defense Accounts Service of the year 1990 batch. Before this he was working as Controller General of Defense Accounts. He has also played an important role in handling the financial system of the defense sector. Vishwajeet Sahay has received his education from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. Apart from this, he is also a law graduate. According to the Defense Ministry, Sahay has over 30 years of extensive experience in the field of defense finance and administration. The ministry said that Raksha Sahay has held many important positions in his long career. Vishwajeet Sahay has been Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Department of Science and Technology. He has also held the charge of Joint Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industries and Finance Manager in the Acquisition Branch in the Ministry of Defence. Apart from this, Vishwajit Sahay has also been working as Director in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The Defense Ministry said that Vishwajit Sahay has also performed many important responsibilities in the Defense Accounts Department. These include posts like Chief Controller and Joint Controller related to pension in Prayagraj. Not only this, his experience at the international level has also been noteworthy. He has represented India in training programs in prestigious institutions in Britain and Germany.
Now his new appointment is considered important for the Defense Ministry. His experience is expected to further strengthen the financial management and strategic decision making processes in the Ministry. His experience within the Defense Accounts Department has also been extremely extensive. He also served on important posts like Joint Controller and Special Controller. He has represented India at the international level.
He participated in training programs conducted at the University of Cambridge, UK and a leading institute for security studies in Germany, giving him global perspective and experience. His appointment is being considered an important step for the Defense Ministry. His wide experience and leadership abilities will help in further strengthening the financial management in the Ministry. At the same time, the process of taking strategic decisions can also be improved.
In another appointment, Bharat Kheda has been appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Small and Medium Industries.
