New Delhi, May 6 (IANS). The summer season is reaching its peak. At this time, heat related diseases gradually start increasing and many times people are not even aware of it. But the body starts giving many signals long before the disease becomes serious. By identifying these signs in time, serious problems can be avoided.

The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has also given information spreading awareness about the warning signals given by the body before heat stress.

If we pay attention to the vital signs of the body, then when the effect of heat increases, the body gives many signs of being unwell. These include symptoms like excessive sweating, feeling nauseous or vomiting, muscle cramps or pain, cold and clammy skin, dizziness, severe headache and excessive thirst.

According to health experts, these signs are not normal. Ignoring these can lead to serious conditions like heat exhaustion or heat stroke. By recognizing these early symptoms and taking immediate action, major problems can be avoided.

Experts suggest some easy measures to control the problems caused by heat or to beat the heat. For this, avoid going out during the hottest time of the day i.e. from 12 noon to 4 pm. Wear light and loose cotton clothes that can absorb sweat. Drink plenty of water, lemonade, buttermilk, lassi or coconut water. Keep drinking water little by little even if you don’t feel thirsty.

Eat nutritious home-made food to compensate for the deficiency of salt and minerals. Rest in a cool and shady place and avoid heavy exercise. If any of the signs mentioned above appear, immediately go to a cool place, rest and contact a doctor if necessary.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, heat stress affects the body in many ways. Therefore, it is important to be aware and take responsibility for your own health. Especially the elderly, children and already sick people should be more careful. In fact, awareness is the biggest protection.

You can keep yourself and your family healthy by adopting small precautions during the summer season. Understand the signals given by the body, take timely action and easily overcome the problems caused by heat.
