Mundavar. The villagers of Gram Panchayat Sodawas of Mundawar subdivision area have protested against the proposed boring work in the Government Higher Secondary School Sodawas campus and have raised the demand to get it done at some other place. Villagers say that many borings are already present in and around the school premises, due to which the groundwater level in the area is continuously going down and farmers are facing serious problems for irrigation. According to the villagers, adequate water system is already available in the school, despite this, preparations are being made to do about 12-13 new borings under the JJM scheme. Agricultural land is situated around the school and about 15 to 20 borings are already operating nearby, through which the fields are irrigated. In such a situation, due to continuous new boring, the water crisis may worsen in the future. The villagers said that water is the basis of life not only for the present but also for the future generations. If groundwater is exploited continuously without any need, then farmers, cattle herders and common people may face a big crisis of drinking water and irrigation in future. Regarding this concern, the villagers submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Officer Mundawar and informed him about the entire matter and demanded that the proposed boring work be done at some other suitable place.
The villagers have appealed to the administration to take appropriate decisions keeping in mind public interest and water conservation. Villagers say that this is not just an issue of one village but it is a serious issue related to the rapidly falling groundwater level in the entire area, which is very important to pay attention to in time.
During this, many villagers including Sarjit Choudhary, Sarpanch representative of Sodawas, Shishram Choudhary, President of Vyapar Mandal Sodawas, Babulal Vaidya, Babulal Joshi, Bharat Seth, Raghuveer Choudhary, Surajbhan Choudhary, former Sarpanch of Sodawas, Pappu Bohra, Manjeet Contractor, Puran Joshi, Budhram Prajapat and Charan Singh were present.
