BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly insulting an unhappy farmer in Kalburgi, Karnataka, and accused him of showing “ego” towards the person seeking help.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Prasad said, “A poor farmer, whose crop was destroyed in floods and rain, went to share his pain.
But Congress party national president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Why have you come here? Why are you pretending? … Your four acres of land is destroyed, but my 40 acres of land has been destroyed … What kind of ego is this? The farmer came to you with his pain because Congress is in power in Karnataka. Why do they stand with farmers in Karnataka.
This criticism took place after a video of Kharge’s conversation with the farmer went viral. Kharge allegedly told the farmer that he did not just come to him for publicity and compared the loss of unhappy farmer to his loss, saying, “Even though four acres of land has been affected in your loss, 40 acres of land has been ruined in my loss.”
The incident has been criticized by NDA leaders. Union Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy strongly criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and accused him of showing “ego and insensitivity” to a farmer who brought his complaint.
BJP leader Shahzad Poonawala accused Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge of “disrespect” the farmers, saying that when a farmer was expressing his pain in front of Kharge, he allegedly insulted him. The BJP leader alleged that the Congress was against the farmers and their interests.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Prasad also took a sarcasm at the absence of Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in flood -affected Punjab and Karnataka. He reminded Gandhiji that there would be “no break” in public life. He said, “It would have been better that Rahul Gandhi goes to Karnataka, Punjab … I want to remind Rahul Gandhi softly that there would be no break in public life. If you are the leader, if you are the leader, then you will have to be available …”
Earlier, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya accused Rahul Gandhi of going on a “secret holiday” in Langcovi, Malaysia during the Bihar assembly elections. In a post on Ax, Malaviya shared a picture of Rahul Gandhi and questioned the time and purpose of his visit.
He wrote, “Rahul Gandhi has once again disappeared – this time is celebrating secret holidays in Langkavi, Malaysia.
