Sriganganagar. The meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Friday in the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Manju. In the meeting, points related to prevention of road accidents, strengthening of traffic system and making awareness activities effective were discussed in detail. The District Collector gave necessary directions to the concerned departments and said that road safety should be ensured. He gave instructions to identify the accident prone areas and get the necessary corrective work done there immediately and install sign boards, reflectors, rumble strips and warning boards on the roads. He said that departmental officers should take appropriate action to prevent accidents caused by stray animals and dogs. The District Collector gave instructions to the concerned officer to report the speed breakers installed in front of government and private schools and colleges and to ensure that all the school operators follow the rules for child care. Instructions were given to UIT, District Transport Officer and PWD officers to jointly inspect the main intersections of the city. In the meeting, officials from NHI were instructed to give report on the action taken so far from the point of view of road safety. Instructions were given to the District Transport Officer to conduct eye test and provide special training for heavy vehicle drivers. From the point of view of road safety, the shortcomings were asked to be rectified as soon as possible. Instructions were given to the concerned officers for maximum awareness about the Chief Minister Ayushman Insurance Scheme and they were asked to publicize it widely in government and private institutions so that every eligible person can avail the benefits of the scheme.
District level standing committee meeting of Narco Coordination Center system
Before this, a meeting of the District Level Standing Committee of Narco Coordination Center system was also held. The actions taken so far by the District Collector were reviewed. He said that the concerned departments and agencies should take effective action to stop the sale of banned drugs and drug smuggling in the district. Instructed drug control officers to investigate medical stores and take action as per rules after regular investigation against those selling banned medicines. To stop the supply of banned medicines from outside states, effective action should be taken in coordination with the police as well as the health department.
He said that the availability and stock of drugs used in intoxication should be regularly checked. If any irregularity is found by conducting a surprise check of the records of medical medicines, ensure that action is taken against the concerned as per rules. Also, the Drug Control Department should ensure that all the retailers in the district get the NDPS prescriptions stamped after dispensing them. All medical stores should be restricted to providing medicines through the portal only. While giving instructions to maintain records of other institutions including de-addiction centers and medical stores, he said that it should be monitored regularly.
ADM Vigilance Reena, Zilla Parishad CEO Girdhar, ASP Raghuveer, SDM Nayan Gautam, Girjesh Kant Sharma, Devanand, Ashok Mittal, Virendra Pal Singh, Bhimsen, Rico RM MC Meena, Mangat Setia, Surendra Poonia, NHI officials, NGOs and others were present in the meeting.
