Lucknow, May 19 (IANS). A statement given regarding Namaz in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh has now become a topic of discussion. BJP MLA from Robertsganj, Bhupesh Choubey made a strong comment about offering Namaz on the road, saying, “Whoever offers Namaz on the road will also be beaten.”
The BJP MLA clearly said that no one should be allowed to offer Namaz on the road. He said that Namaz should be offered in the mosque and not by blocking public roads.
Actually, this statement has come after the statement of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in which he had said that any religious activity that disrupts traffic will not be allowed on the road.
Supporting CM Yogi’s statement, Bhupesh Choubey said, “How can you offer Namaz in the mosque and sit to block the road? The decision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is absolutely right.”
He further said that earlier people used to sit on the streets to offer Namaz instead of mosques, but ever since Yogi Adityanath’s government came to power in the state and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre, the situation has seen improvement.
Bhupesh Choubey claimed that gradually this tradition of offering Namaz on the road is coming to an end. According to him, the government is taking a strict stance regarding law and order and it is necessary to keep public places empty for the convenience of the common people.
Let us tell you that in a media program organized in Lucknow on May 18, Chief Minister Yogi had given a strict warning against offering Namaz on public roads. He had said that his government will not allow any religious activity that disrupts traffic.
The Chief Minister had also said that the law applies equally to all communities and public roads should remain open for commuters, everyday working people and emergency services.
