The country’s second largest telecom company, Airtel has launched a new service called ‘Priority Postpaid’. With this launch, Airtel becomes the first company in India to introduce 5G network slicing technology for mobile users. This new service is specially designed for users who require stable internet access throughout the day. It promises to provide its users with faster, more stable and consistent network performance. This service is available with all postpaid plans of Airtel, and existing prepaid users also have the option to migrate to it. Let’s take a closer look at how this service works and what its billing costs are.
How does 5G network slicing technology work?
This is a feature used in 5G technology that divides one physical network into multiple virtual networks. These “network slices” may be created for specific user groups or customized for specific purposes. Network slicing helps networks work more efficiently. Let’s take an example from Airtel: The company can provide exclusive network slices to premium users, ensuring that they have uninterrupted connectivity – even when the load on the entire network increases. 5G network slicing technology is already operational in countries like USA, UK and Malaysia; Airtel has now successfully started using it in India also. To use this service, users must have a 5G-enabled smartphone with the latest software updates installed.
