Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold an important meeting with his ministers at ‘Seva Tirth’ in Delhi on Thursday (May 21) at 4:00 pm. In view of the ongoing political and economic discussions in the government, all Union Ministers have been asked to remain in Delhi during this period. The meeting is taking place soon after Prime Minister Modi’s return from his foreign tour, and is expected to be attended by all Union ministers, ministers of state with independent charge and ministers of state. According to reports, the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its possible economic impact on India is likely to be discussed. Amid rising regional tensions, the Modi government is closely monitoring oil prices, the fuel supply chain and inflation concerns.
Formation of group under the chairmanship of Rajnath Singh
According to sources, Prime Minister Modi will review the current situation after returning from his foreign tour. The government has constituted a high-level informal group of ministers, chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, to monitor the crisis and suggest measures to ensure that India remains strong in these challenging times. Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman and Hardeep Singh Puri are members of this group.
When is the first anniversary of Modi 3.0 government?
Rajnath Singh had recently said that the government is monitoring the situation round the clock. He said, “Be it crude oil, energy or LPG, we have enough reserves at the moment. There is no major problem.” Amid speculations of cabinet expansion and reshuffle ahead of the first anniversary of the Modi 3.0 government on June 10, the meeting is considered to have important political significance.
Last week, government sources had indicated that discussions on reshuffle and expansion were gaining momentum, and changes in the Union Council of Ministers could take place in the second week of June. According to sources, the government leadership is also reviewing the functioning of various ministries and their organizational operations before any possible reshuffle.
