Nautapa, considered to be the most scorching and difficult time of summer in India, remains a topic of discussion for people every year. As soon as the Sun reaches its highest position, the temperature starts increasing rapidly and the effect of severe heat starts appearing on the earth. According to religious beliefs, during these 9 days of Nautapa, Sun God remains under his intense influence, due to which the earth gets heated the most.
Normally Nautapa begins with the Sun entering Rohini Nakshatra in the month of Jyeshtha and lasts for about 9 days. In the year 2026, Nautapa is likely to start around the last week of May, which may continue till the beginning of June. However, the exact date depends on the position of the planets and stars.
What is Nautapa?
The word Nautapa itself means “nine days of heat”. During this time the Sun appears very close to the Earth and the temperature reaches its peak. From a scientific point of view, this time is the peak summer season, when there is less moisture in the atmosphere and more hot winds.
