New Delhi, 20 September (IANS). India has currently emerged as a global leader in seafood exports with supplies to 132 countries. The country has targeted to double its exports to $ 15 billion by 2030.

India exported 16,98,170 tonnes of seafood during 2024-25, priced at Rs 62,408.45 crore ($ 7.45 billion), while in 2023-24 it was exported by 17,81,602 tonnes in 2023-24, priced at Rs 60,523.89 crore ($ 7.38 billion). This reflects the strong potential of the region despite fluctuations in global trade.

Giving information before the India International Seafood Show 2025 of SEAI, the Seafood Experters Association of India said that the fisheries sector also supports the livelihood of 3 crore fishermen and fish farmer, which has an important role in the country’s economy.

The 24th edition of Asia’s largest seafood trade Fair, India International Seafood Show will be held from 25 to 28 September at Bharat Mandapam.

This year’s event will be a part of World Food India 2025. World Food India 2025 is a flagship global food innovation event of the Government of India.

SEAI President Pawan Kumar said, “IISS displays the great growth of India’s sea food exports. Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, this program will help us strengthen our position globally and expand new markets.”

SEAI General Secretary K.N. Raghavan said, “Our motto reflects our deepest commitment to ‘continuously obtained, human way sourcing’, moral sourcing and responsible aquaculture practices.”

He further stated that IISS 2025 will be a platform to deal with challenges like skill development, sustainability and innovation.

Giving information about this program, SEAI said that IISS 2025 will have more than 260 stalls, technical sessions and round tables, which will include participants from more than 15 countries. Among them, countries like America, European Union, Vietnam, UAE, Germany, Belgium, Japan, China will be involved.
