Kolkata, May 27 (IANS). Amidst the growing internal crisis in Trinamool Congress (TMC) and party leaders continuously targeting General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given an indirect message to the rebels by writing a poem on the topic ‘Chameleon’.
Mamta Banerjee shared the poem ‘Girgit’ written in Bengali language on her Facebook page on Wednesday night. This is being considered as an indirect attack on those trying to spread discontent within the party and leave TMC at a time of crisis.
In the opening lines of the poem, he wrote, “More dangerous than chameleons are those polymorphic people, who change colors more rapidly to protect their selfishness and sources of income.”
It is further said in the poem that such people change their complexion and character in a few hours for their economic interests and sell the self-respect of the workers and common people.
Mamta Banerjee also warned the rebel leaders of the party through poetry. He wrote, “As the wheels of the chariot move, so will your wheels move. You will get the consequences. That day traitors will understand what inhumanity and worthlessness is.”
Political analysts believe that Mamata Banerjee was already aware of the growing discontent within the party. In his first meeting with newly-elected MLAs after the election results, he had said that those who want to leave TMC are free to do so.
After this, internal opposition in the party intensified. In such a situation, this poem of Mamata Banerjee is being considered as a direct message to the rebel leaders, which has created a new stir in the political corridors of West Bengal.
