Amritsar, June 20 (IANS). Aam Aadmi Party workers on Saturday gheraoed the house of BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh in Amritsar, protesting against the central government. During this, Punjab Minister Harbhajan Singh, MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Ajay Gupta accused the Central Government of discriminating against Punjab.
AAP MLA Inderbir Singh Nijjar told IANS, “Today BJP national president Nitin Naveen is coming to Amritsar and going to Ludhiana. We want him to clarify BJP’s policy towards Punjab. What is his stand on Chandigarh? Do he consider it a part of Punjab or not? What is his policy regarding river water, how much is Punjab’s right and how much is not? What is his policy regarding our dams and who should control them? Those who were supposed to give us funds, Let us know when it will be released.”
Minister Harbhajan Singh said, “The protest we are holding in Amritsar today is against the policies of the BJP and its politics of religion. The BJP has tried to bring religious politics in Punjab too, but we will not let this happen. Punjab is the land of gurus and saints. Our Constitution is secular and our country is built on the principle of secularism, however, the BJP is not following these principles. The central government is discriminating against Punjab. Punjab’s funds stopped. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is again getting the development of Punjab done. In such a situation, we demand from him to clarify his stand towards Punjab. Along with this, the pending funds of Punjab should be released and the politics of religion should be stopped.
AAP MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said, “Today’s protest is against the BJP. We are protesting outside the house of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh. Through this protest, we want to express our opposition to the policies and works of the BJP.”
