Guwahati, May 28 (IANS). Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said the state government has started preparing a roadmap to fulfill its promise of providing two lakh government jobs in the coming years. He said that the government is continuously working to implement the election promises and now is not the time to relax.
“We have no time to relax towards fulfilling our promises,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on social media platform ‘X’.
He said that his team has started the work of identifying vacant posts in various government departments and preparing a detailed plan to complete the recruitment process in a systematic manner.
CM Sarma said, “My team is already busy identifying vacant posts, preparing a roadmap, assessing departments and institutions and setting a timeline to fulfill the promise of two lakh government jobs.”
Along with his post, the Chief Minister also shared a graphic titled ‘Mission 2 Lakh Government Jobs – Plan in Motion’, which outlines the strategy for the recruitment drive.
According to the government’s plan, a comprehensive assessment of the vacancies in various departments in the next five years will be done. Along with this, the sanctioned posts will be reviewed and employment opportunities will be identified in departments, autonomous institutions, semi-government bodies, missions and societies.
In the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections, the BJP-led government had included employment generation on a large scale among its major election promises. Political experts believe that this announcement is an attempt to strengthen the government’s commitment amid the increasing demand for employment among the youth.
Since assuming power in 2021, the Himanta Biswa Sarma government has been continuously claiming to conduct recruitment drives in many departments including police, education, health and administrative services.
The Chief Minister has already said that the recruitment process in Assam will continue with complete transparency and merit will be made the most important basis in appointments.
This new announcement has come at a time when BJP has recently returned to power with a strong mandate in the Assam Assembly elections.
