The ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka has finally ended. Actually, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had submitted his resignation on Thursday, which has now been accepted by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. The Governor was not present when Siddaramaiah submitted his resignation, after which he submitted it to the Secretary. However, after reaching Bengaluru, the Governor formally accepted Siddaramaiah’s resignation. With this development now D.K. The path has been cleared for Shivkumar to become the Chief Minister of the state. According to sources, D.K. Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place on June 1 or June 3.
It is worth noting that there was a dispute going on for several months regarding the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka. To resolve this dispute, the Congress Party had called a big meeting in Delhi. In this meeting both the leaders – Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar – was present. During the meeting it was confirmed that whatever decision Rahul Gandhi takes, it will be final and binding. As a result, Siddaramaiah finally had to resign. Meanwhile, D.K. Shivakumar is now set to take oath as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka next week. D.K. Shivkumar had presented his claim for the post of Chief Minister several times before.
It is noteworthy that after resigning from the post of Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah also held a press conference. “After being asked by the high command to resign, I have submitted my resignation today. I am confident that once the Governor comes, he will accept it, as this is a process to be completed as per the Constitution,” he said during the press conference. Furthermore, Siddaramaiah stressed that for him the interest of the state is above everything else. He commented, “I have never pursued power or money, nor have I accumulated personal wealth. Serving the voters is what is really important to me. I have spent 50 years in politics; my political life is an open book.”
