Special news. Bhopal

South-West Monsoon has advanced further into Madhya Pradesh and brought heavy rain, thunder, hailstorm and strong winds in many parts of the state. This change in weather has brought relief to people from the scorching heat, although the possibility of damage to crops and infrastructure has also increased.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain and thunderstorm in many districts for the coming days. On May 30 and 31, there is a possibility of isolated heavy rain with lightning, hailstorm and strong winds at the speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour in Mandsaur and Neemuch districts. Apart from this, the weather is expected to remain intense in Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari districts. Between May 31 and June 3, thunderstorms and strong winds are likely to continue in many parts of the state including Rajgarh, Agar Malwa, Shahdol, Sehore, Dewas, Indore, Ujjain, Jhabua.
According to the Bhopal-based Meteorological Center, in the data recorded till 8:30 am on May 30, the maximum rainfall of 72 mm was recorded in Gormi of Bhind district. After this, 44 mm rainfall was recorded in Narwar, 38 mm in Tendukheda of Narsinghpur, 31 mm in Berad and 29-29 mm in Shujalpur and Mohangarh. Baldevgarh received 27 mm rainfall and Niwari 25 mm rainfall, while many other areas recorded 15 to 22 mm rainfall. Along with the rain, strong winds also had an impact.
The maximum wind speed recorded in Ashoknagar was 70 kilometers per hour, while in Gwalior and Shivpuri the wind blew at a speed of 67 kilometers per hour and in Sehore it was 59 kilometers per hour. Hailstorm was also reported in Shivpuri, Morena, Sagar and Sheopur districts. Incidents of thunder and lightning were recorded in many parts of Chambal, Gwalior, Sagar, Ujjain, Rewa and Shahdol divisions. The weather also remained active in Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Dewas, Katni and Dindori districts.
According to the Meteorological Department, conditions are favorable for the advance of monsoon into Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other parts of the Bay of Bengal during the next four to five days. The active Western Disturbance over North-West Uttar Pradesh and the trough extending to Pakistan, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are promoting this weather activity.
The administration has appealed to the people to remain alert. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, stay out in the open, keep loose objects secure and protect animals and standing crops from hailstorm and strong winds. Farmers have also been asked to take special care in the fields and not to go to open places during lightning.
Meteorologists believe that this early activity of monsoon will reduce the heat wave situation in the state to a great extent and can also prove beneficial for agricultural activities, although the Meteorological Department is continuously monitoring the situation. –
