IND vs AFG ODI Series: A very heartbreaking news is coming for cricket lovers. The Indian team has suffered a big setback before the three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan to be held this month. Indian team’s veteran batsman and former captain Virat Kohli will not be seen playing in this series. He has been out of the entire series due to hamstring injury i.e. strain in leg muscles. This news has disappointed millions of fans who were eagerly waiting to see Kohli hitting fours and sixes on the field. A big source of the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI has completely confirmed this news.
Deep pain came with victory in the final match
Virat Kohli suffered this injury during the thrilling final match of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2026. Kohli, who made Royal Challengers Bangalore the winner for the second consecutive time, looked quite uncomfortable while batting in the final match. He scored a brilliant 75 runs in just 42 balls against Gujarat Titans in the final and remained unbeaten. Thanks to his magical innings, RCB won by five wickets. In the last overs of the match, when Kohli was running to steal runs, the pain could be clearly seen on his face. However, he flatly refused to leave the field and died after making the team champion. When the doctors examined him after the match was over, this serious injury was revealed.
Break on great form
37 year old Virat Kohli was currently in the best form of his career. He showed amazing performance in IPL this year. In 16 matches of the entire season, he scored a total of 675 runs at an unmatched average of 56.25 and a dangerous strike rate of almost 166. He single-handedly won many matches for his team. A sudden injury amidst such excellent form is no less than a big loss for the Indian cricket team. Although there is no official report yet on the extent of the injury, it is almost certain that he will not play against Afghanistan.
The whole adventure of the series and the new captain
In the absence of Kohli, now young batsman Shubman Gill has been given the captaincy of the Indian ODI team, while Rohit Sharma will also be a part of the team. This tour between India and Afghanistan will start from June 6 with the only Test match to be held in New Chandigarh. After this a three-match ODI series will be played. The first ODI match of the series will be played on June 14 at the beautiful ground Dharamshala. The second ODI match will be held on June 17 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, while the third and last match is scheduled to be played on June 20 at Chennai ground from 1.30 pm. Without Kohli, now the young players will have a big responsibility to make the team win.
