Tel Aviv, June 6 (). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed the attacks were directed at Hezbollah. The IDF has said that surface-to-air missiles were fired from Hezbollah targeting Israeli Air Force aircraft. However, no one was injured in this incident nor was there any damage to the aircraft.
According to the report of Xinhua news agency, after the missile was fired, air raid sirens sounded in the city of Kiryat Shmona and eight villages in north-eastern Israel near the Lebanon border, causing thousands of residents to flee to safe places (shelters).
This development came to light when Israel and Lebanon agreed to implement a ceasefire following trilateral talks in Washington on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has strongly criticized Iran for using Lebanon as a bargaining chip in talks with the US. He also criticized Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassim, saying that the people of Lebanon are tired of war and want to live a life in peace.
Aoun said these things in an interview, which was released by the Lebanese Presidential Office on Friday (local time).
On Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that Iran’s main condition for accepting the April 8 deal with the US and Israel was a complete ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.
“This is not your country, this is our country,” Aoun said in the interview. He said it was unacceptable for regional powers to use Lebanon to pursue their interests, while Lebanese civilians continue to suffer the consequences of the conflict in the form of death, displacement and destruction.
President Aoun said that dialogue is the only practical way to end the conflict between Lebanon and Israel. He said the Lebanese state and government must resolve the issue of Hezbollah domestically. This would require addressing the root causes of the group’s armed presence, including Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory and an end to the conflict.
Aoun said Lebanese people of all communities and regions are tired of decades of conflict.
Commenting on Qassim’s statements opposing the agreement and threatening to topple the government through street protests, Aoun said, “They are the people of Lebanon, not the people of Naim Qassim.”
