Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed all concerned agencies to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination in a transparent, smooth and stress-free manner across the state. The re-examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 21 after the exam held on May 3 was canceled due to question paper leak allegations.

Fadnavis, chairing a review meeting at his official residence here on Friday, said all departments should be alert and take necessary steps to ensure fairness in the examination process. He directed the officials that CCTV surveillance system should be kept fully active at all the examination centers and cyber security measures should be further strengthened to prevent any kind of irregularity.

The Chief Minister said that the process of identity verification and searching of candidates should also be strictly implemented. He also stressed the need to maintain effective communication with students, parents and general public through social media and other mediums. According to an official release, Fadnavis directed officials to immediately refute rumors or misinformation related to the examination, so that no confusion is spread among the candidates and their families.

Fadnavis asked to pay special attention to the examination centers of Pune and Latur as these areas traditionally attract a large number of NEET candidates to appear for the exam. The Chief Minister said that all the basic facilities should be effectively arranged for the students, so that they do not face any kind of inconvenience on the day of examination.

During the meeting, Director General of National Testing Agency (NTA) Abhishek Singh gave a presentation on the number of examination centers in Maharashtra, facilities available, security arrangements and the overall plan prepared for the smooth conduct of the examination.
