Ahmedabad, June 7 (). Former Miss Gujarat supermodel Heena Rajgor won the gold medal for India in the World Yogasana Championship 2026 on Sunday. With this the host country further strengthened its lead at the top. India has so far won a total of 50 medals (40 gold, 8 silver and 2 bronze) in the ongoing Yogasana Championship at the EKA Arena, with the host country topping the medal tally.
Japan has added 2 more gold medals to its account, taking its total number of gold medals to 3. Japan is currently in second place with a total of 10 medals, while Singapore is in third place with 6 medals (which includes 2 gold).
Rajgor, a resident of Bhuj, Gujarat, who is pursuing her PhD in Yoga, performed brilliantly in the ‘Forward Bend’ competition in the Senior B Women category and won the gold medal with 43.50 points. Oman’s Preeti Zaimani won silver with 38.15 points, while Russia’s Svetlana Lukashova and Jordan’s Maya Al Alostath jointly won the bronze medal.
Indian players dominated the gold medal race, while Japan won two gold medals. Russia and Uzbekistan won one gold medal each.
Hisashi Watanabe (Supine Individual Senior B Men) and Tomoka Shimizu (Leg Balance Individual Senior C Women) won gold medals for Japan, while Russia’s Svetlana Lukashova won the Senior B Women category in Supine Individual. Kamolatdin Rakhmanov won the first gold of the championship for Uzbekistan in the leg balance individual senior C men’s category.
