Hansi, June 8 (IANS). Congress MP from Rohtak Deependra Hooda extended his support to the ongoing protests in Chainat village on the 24th day of the issue of drinking water.
While talking to the media, MP Deepender Hooda said that providing water is the biggest human responsibility and the basic right of every citizen.
Deepender Hooda demanded withdrawal of cases registered against the protesters and said that if the water crisis is not resolved soon, the issue will be raised in the Assembly and Parliament.
He said that as a citizen of Haryana and representative of the opposition, I want to ask the government to immediately resolve the legitimate demands of Chainat village and ensure supply of water to the village as per its rights. The solution should be such that all the villages of the area including Chainat remain satisfied and everyone gets water on equal basis. If the government does not provide a solution, then the voice of the village’s rights will be raised strongly in the Assembly and Lok Sabha through the rights given to the opposition in the democratic system.
He said that the villagers of Chainat village of Hansi have been protesting for the last 24 days to solve the drinking water shortage. The demands of the villagers are legitimate, and I have full support for the protest. The government should immediately accept the demands and ensure supply as per the equal right of water per person.
In the NEET paper leak case, the MP said that there is anger across the country due to the paper leak. I protested against this in Kurukshetra, but they targeted me and humiliated me. This type of attack should not happen in a democracy. We are of another ideology, it should not be done this way.
He said that I was not targeted, rather democracy was targeted. We will not step back from being targeted.
He also said that Congress is keeping an eye on the SIR process and will oppose any irregularities.
He said that the Union Education Minister should resign following Rajdharma. The youth of the country and the state will fight from the streets to the Parliament until they get justice. The next stop will be in Panipat on June 12.
