Pushkar Singh Dhami: On Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami plowed the field at his private residence in Nagla Terai by himself using a tiller and gave the message of promoting organic and traditional farming by applying natural manure of cow dung in the field. During this time his mother Mrs. Bishna Devi was also present with him.
The Chief Minister underlined the importance of farmers’ hard work and agricultural traditions while working in the fields. He said that farming is not just a means of livelihood but is the soul of Indian culture and rural economy. Agriculture can be made more prosperous and sustainable by adopting traditional and natural farming along with modern technology.
The Chief Minister said that natural methods like cow dung manure play an important role in increasing the fertility of the land as well as in environmental protection. He called upon the farmers to reduce their dependence on chemical fertilizers and move towards organic and natural farming. He said that the state government is continuously working to increase the income of farmers, modernize agriculture and promote organic products.
The Chief Minister said that the identity of Uttarakhand is linked to agriculture, rural culture and nature. The state government is providing assistance to farmers through various schemes to promote traditional farming, horticulture, natural farming and local products. He said that the need of the hour is to connect the young generation with farming and rural development.
