NEET UG 2026: The Central Government has taken a big step to ensure fairness and security of NEET UG 2026 re-exam. On the recommendation of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has decided to impose a temporary ban on Telegram. According to the order issued, this ban will remain effective till June 22, 2026.
The government says that this decision has been taken with the aim of stopping rumors, fake paper leak claims and misleading information related to the examination. According to NTA, in the last few years, some social media and messaging platforms were used to spread wrong information related to the examination, leading to confusion among students and parents.
Telegram services will remain limited in India during this temporary ban implemented under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Apart from this, special monitoring will also be kept on the message editing feature of Telegram. According to officials, this feature will remain inactive till June 30 to prevent false claims from being spread through any kind of fake screenshots or edited messages after the exam.
NTA believes that many times an attempt is made to edit old messages to make them evidence of paper leak, which affects the credibility of the examination process. For this reason, this time extra precautions are being taken at the technical level.
It is noteworthy that NEET UG 2026 re-exam will be conducted on June 21. Extensive arrangements have been made to make the examination secure and transparent. The help of the Indian Air Force will be taken in delivering the question papers to the examination centres. The experts who prepared the question papers have been kept under special surveillance and isolation till the completion of the examination. Drones, CCTV surveillance and additional police forces will also be deployed for the security of the examination centres.
Meanwhile, some students had to face technical difficulties in downloading the admit card. NTA has clarified that the technical team is continuously working to resolve server and network related problems. According to the agency, lakhs of candidates have downloaded their admit cards so far and the remaining students will also be provided admit cards on time.
NTA has appealed to the students not to believe any rumor and rely only on official information.
