Seats will be divided among NDA constituents in Bihar after the announcement of the assembly elections dates by the Election Commission. Sources say that it may agreed in the last week of September or in the first week of October. The Election Commission can announce elections in the first week of October after Dussehra. This decision has been taken to avoid changing the frost of the candidates at the last moment.
According to sources, the formula for seat sharing in NDA is almost fixed. The allocation of seats will be based on the last assembly election. However, giving place to Chirag Paswan is a challenge. Chirag Paswan is demanding more than 40 seats, while JDU is not ready to give more than 20 seats. The BJP believes that the demand for more seats of Chirag Paswan is a political compulsion, as they have to maintain the morale of their supporters.
Chirag Paswan instead …
Chirag Paswan contested 135 seats alone in the last election, but only one seat was won. This time, he is in the NDA and has won five seats in the Lok Sabha elections, which can give him 30 seats. In addition, Jeetan Ram Manjhi wants 15 to 20 seats for his party, and Upendra Kushwaha wants 10 seats.
BJP and JDU agreement
This time, the NDA has five parties. BJP and JDU have agreed to share around 100 seats. In Bihar, JDU will contest more seats than BJP to convey the message of “elder brother”. In the last election, the BJP contested 110 seats and won 74 seats, while JDU contested 115 seats and won 43 seats.
What are the demands of other parties?
Last time, Mukesh Sahni’s VIP party was also part of the NDA, which was allotted 13 seats and won four seats. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party contested seven seats and won four seats. This time, Manjhi wants to contest 15 to 20 seats for his party. Upendra Kushwaha, who supports Asaduddin Owaisi in the last election, wants 10 seats for his party this time.
