Kolkata, June 30 (IANS). Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee has raised questions on the law and order situation in West Bengal over the alleged attack outside his family’s residence. He posted on social media platform ‘X’ and alleged that violence has been normalized in the state and criminals are getting protection.
Abhishek Banerjee claimed in his post that on Tuesday morning a person arrived outside his family’s house on a bike and from there repeatedly threw a big stone at the windows of the first floor of his house, due to which the glasses broke. He called it not just a problem of law and order, but a case of violence taking institutional form.
The TMC leader raised questions as to where the police was at the time of the incident and on whose instructions the accused carried out such an attack. He alleged that such an environment has been created in the state where people committing crimes are confident that they will get political protection.
Abhishek Banerjee targeted BJP in the post and said that violence and hooliganism is being promoted in Bengal. He alleged that the morale of criminals has increased due to the government’s policies.
He also mentioned the ‘West Bengal Public Safety and Control of Anti Social Activities Bill, 2026’ recently passed in West Bengal. He questioned whether this law would also apply to those who are accused of supporting the BJP.
Abhishek Banerjee said that he is worried and upset seeing the current situation in the state. He raised questions on the role of the administration while demanding effective action on incidents of violence.
