Hyderabad, July 1 (IANS). Telangana BJP leader and social activist Madhavi Latha has won gold medal in the 12th Telangana State Shooting Championship.
Madhavi Lata performed brilliantly in the 25 meter pistol (Masters Women) competition held at SATS Shooting Range, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. He stood first by scoring 245 marks out of 300.
Explaining what inspired her to get into shooting, Madhavi Latha recalls her NCC cadet days.
He said, “In my childhood, during Republic Day training, we were made to practice rifle shooting. That’s when I developed interest in this sport.”
Madhavi Lata has contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate from Hyderabad seat.
He said that his return to the shooting range was inspired by the thought that public representatives should become examples for the society.
He said, “A politician should be courageous and associated with sports so that he can become an inspiration for the people. I asked myself why should age be a barrier? If your mind is ready then you can achieve anything.”
Madhavi Lata also gave credit for her success to her coach Prasanna.
She told that despite having an injury in her right shoulder, she is busy preparing for the upcoming competitions. She is doing special practice for the pre-national championship to be held in the next two months.
“Despite a shoulder injury, I am currently in the gym preparing for pre-nationals. I want to show that determination can overcome any obstacle,” she said.
In a message shared on social media, Madhavi Lata said that this gold medal is not her only achievement.
She wrote, “This is for all the people who believed in me, encouraged me, prayed for me and celebrated every step of my journey. To every woman chasing her dreams, I want to say that don’t let anyone set your limits. Believe in yourself, work hard and always set high goals.”
