Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelansky expressed alert hopes on India’s support for Ukraine in the ongoing struggle with Russia, and said that India agreed to “mostly” the stance of “Kiev”, and accepted New Delhi’s stance on energy -related complications.
During an interview with Fox News on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday (local time), Zelancesi highlighted the need to strengthen relations with India by resolving challenges related to Russian energy dependence.
Zelancesi said, “I think India is with us to a great extent. We have some questions about energy, but I think President Trump can handle it. Must have more close and strong relations with India together with European countries.”
He emphasized that India should not stop supporting Ukraine, and said, “I think we should make every effort to prevent Indians from retreat, and eventually they will change their attitude towards the Russian energy sector.”
However, he said that it is “more difficult” to interact with China on the issue due to historical association with Beijing’s Russian interests.
The Ukrainian President said, “It is more difficult with China, as it is not in their interest to stop supporting Russia at the moment.”
Zelancesi also praised US President Donald Trump for his commitment to support Ukraine until a solution to the conflict, and underlined the shared desire of peace.
He said, “He [ट्रंप ने] Showed that he wanted to support Ukraine till the end. So now we understand that we are ready to end this war as soon as possible. He wants this, I want this, and our people also want so, but he understands that Putin does not want so. “
Zelansky said, “I was surprised in a very positive way, that the clear message came from Trump and America that they would stand with us until the war ends.”
Comparing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement, he said, “Putin knows that he is not winning, but still he tells everyone that he is winning.”
